The ALIA Library Technicians put on a biennial symposium for library technicians around Australia. The 2017 Symposium was held in Sydney at The Australian Catholic University in North Sydney from?27 to 29 September 2017. ?The theme was 'bridge to knowledge'.? The 2019 Symposium, Melbourne, takes place from 13-15 November 2019 with the theme 'Discover, Diversify, Dive In.'

Each year on the Tuesday of Library and Information Week, library and information services around Australia celebrate library technicians on National Library Technicians Day. This day provides an opportunity for library technicians to promote ALIA, the profession, and their role in libraries and to celebrate their many achievements.
Awards
Research Grant
ALIA provides the biennial Library Technician Research Award?(previously the Dunn & Wilson scholarship) for individual financial library technician members or a group of financial library technician members.? The $5,000 Research Grant? provides the recipient/s with an opportunity to undertake a particular project of relevance to the role of library technicians in the broad library and information profession.
